About Kim Chaek University of Technology

The university began in 1948 as a part of Kim Il Sung University, when engineering faculties were split off to form the Pyongyang College of Technology.[1] Wikipedia says it was renamed Kim Chaek College of Technology in 1951 and became a university in 1988.[1] The sources therefore give 1948 for the origin and 1951 for the infobox date of establishment.

It is a state university: Wikipedia states that it is overseen by the Science and Education Department under the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, with administration by the Ministry of Education’s Department of Higher Education.[1] The page also says it is considered one of the country’s top universities and is sometimes called “the MIT of North Korea”; this is a popular comparison, not a measured ranking.[1]

Not the same as Kim Il Sung University: Both are in Pyongyang. Kim Chaek University of Technology started in 1948 from engineering faculties of the older Kim Il Sung University and is a separate institution.[1]
