About Eindhoven University of Technology
The Dutch government founded TU/e on 23 June 1956 as the Technische Hogeschool Eindhoven, the second institute of its kind in the Netherlands after Delft.[5] It was set up mainly to meet the need of the electronics company Philips for locally trained graduates in electronics, physics, chemistry and later computer science.[5]
TU/e counts 13,453 enrolled students on its student facts page, which draws on its 2025 annual report.[1] Wikipedia, citing the same annual report, gives about 13,854 students.[5] The two figures come from different pages and may use different counting dates; we show TU/e’s own number.

How do you apply to Eindhoven University of Technology?
Registering in Studielink, the national application system, is compulsory for every Dutch bachelor’s or master’s programme.[12]
- Master’s: you register in Studielink, then complete the application in Osiris, TU/e’s system, using a link sent to you by email. You upload documents and pay the application fee if one applies.[12] TU/e says master’s decisions typically come within six weeks of a complete application and are either conditional admission, unconditional admission or rejection.[12] An admission wizard shows the requirements for your previous education and chosen programme.[12]
- Bachelor’s with selection: for the four selection programmes you apply in Studielink. The ranking uses at least two criteria, which for most programmes combine your grade average (GPA) with test or assignment results. Ties are decided by GPA and then by lottery, and ranking numbers are sent by email via Studielink.[9]
The pages we read give no step-by-step route for bachelor’s programmes without selection. TU/e calls its deadlines “very strict” and rejects late applications.[12] We give no dates here because they change every year and differ by programme. Check the TU/e page for your programme.

| LanguageCert Academic | 70 | 65 |

TU/e does not accept the IELTS online test or IELTS One Skill Retake, TOEFL MyBest Scores, or online LanguageCert and Pearson tests.[4]
Who is exempt?
Among the exemptions TU/e lists are Dutch pre-university (VWO) graduates, holders of the nationality of Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States, and applicants who completed their whole bachelor’s degree in one of those countries. TU/e states that no other exemptions are possible.[4]
