About the University of Kragujevac
The University of Kragujevac was founded on 21 May 1976 with 5 faculties and 2 research institutes. It traces its roots to the Lyceum of the Principality of Serbia, established in Kragujevac on 1 July 1838 by decree of Prince Miloš Obrenović.[1] Today it has 12 faculties and one institute in six towns of central Serbia: Kragujevac, Čačak, Jagodina, Kraljevo, Užice and Vrnjačka Banja.[1] It is one of Serbia’s eight state universities.[6]
The university’s English page states about 18,000 students and about 1,200 academic staff, without a date.[1] Wikipedia reports 15,202 enrolled students for 2023–24, so the student number depends on the source and year.[5]
How is the University of Kragujevac ranked?
We could not confirm a position for the University of Kragujevac in the QS World University Rankings 2027, published on 18 June 2026. The ranking’s own site blocks automated access, so we read an aggregator’s copy of the 2027 table (pages covering the 791 to 1401+ bands). It lists Belgrade and Novi Sad among Serbian universities but we found no entry for Kragujevac there.[2] That is not proof of absence, so treat the QS 2027 position as not confirmed.
Rankings differ by publisher and year, so treat one position as one view. How we compile rankings.

The language of instruction is Serbian unless a programme is announced in English. We did not read a university-wide list of programmes, so ask the faculty for the current offer.

How do you apply to the University of Kragujevac?
Apply to the faculty that runs your programme.
- Economics, bachelor’s in English: submit the completed application form and the required documents, with proof of payment of the entrance-exam fee. Documents can be handed in at the faculty or sent by e-mail; applicants then receive an application number and access to an online account for the entrance exam.[4]
- Pharmacy in English: submit the application form, scanned passport, secondary-school documents translated into Serbian by a certified court translator, a medical certificate, proof of English and proof of submission of the original documents for recognition. The entrance exam covers chemistry and either mathematics or biology, plus an interview, both held online in the 2026/27 call.[3]
Recognition of foreign diplomas
Foreign applicants must submit their original secondary-school documents for recognition to the National Agency for Academic Recognition in Belgrade; the decision may come before the academic year begins.[4] The Pharmacy call gives the contact address agencija@azk.gov.rs for the same agency.[3] We give no deadlines here, because they change every year; read the current call of your faculty.
Which language level do you need?
Both English-language programmes above ask for a certificate of English at least at level B2, or a completed level of education in English.[3][4] B2 is upper-intermediate on the CEFR scale, the European scale from A1 to C2. The calls we read do not list accepted certificate types, so ask the faculty before you book a test. For programmes taught in Serbian, the requirements are set by the faculty and were not stated in the sources we read.
