The last official fee list we found

How do you apply to National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University?

International degree applicants apply through NYCU’s online system.[10]

  • Eligibility: you must qualify as an international student under the Ministry of Education’s regulations; NYCU also refers to the Nationality Act for the definition.[11]
  • Steps: confirm that the department you want is open to international students, submit the application online, and get two letters of recommendation (the system emails links to your referees). You receive a confirmation email once the application is submitted; applications without it are not accepted.[10]
  • Number of choices: up to three departments; if you are accepted by two or more, you can enrol in only one.[10]
  • Fee: NT$2,000 per department in the Spring 2027 guideline.[4]
  • Visa: admission does not guarantee a visa, which the Taiwanese diplomatic missions approve separately.[10]

We give no deadlines because they change every year; the programmes page links the current admission guideline.

Which language level do you need?

The university-wide guideline asks for proof of English proficiency equivalent to CEFR B1 or above, or proof of Chinese proficiency equivalent to TOCFL Level A2 or above. The programme sets which one applies and the exact score.[4] The guideline’s programme entries show how much the scores differ: some ask for TOEFL iBT 47, others for TOEFL iBT 72 or 73 and IELTS Academic 5.5.[4]

You do not need an English test if your nationality or previous degree is from an English-speaking country defined in the guideline (the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia and others on its list) or if your previous degree was fully taught in English. A previous degree fully taught in Chinese replaces the Chinese test. Because some university-wide undergraduate courses are taught mainly in Chinese, undergraduate applicants are advised to have Chinese at TOCFL A2 or above.[4]
