The short answer

The University of Dodoma (UDOM) is a public university in Tanzania’s capital, established in 2007 on a 6,000-hectare site about 8 km east of Dodoma city centre.[1][2] It has six colleges, three schools and two institutes.[1] We could not confirm a position in the QS World University Rankings 2027.

UDOM’s programme list shows a tuition amount in Tanzanian shillings (TZS) for each bachelor’s programme, from TZS 700,000 to 1,800,000, and “USD (not set)” beside every programme.[3] The list does not say which year or which students these amounts apply to, so international applicants must ask the university for their fee.

About the University of Dodoma

The University of Dodoma was established in 2007. The university says it was built entirely with domestic finances and aims to enrol 40,000 students once its infrastructure is complete.[1] Wikipedia gives March 2007 as the date the charter was signed and September 2007 as the start of the first programmes.[4] The Vice Chancellor’s welcome note describes a start with 1,200 students in 2007/2008 and a collegiate structure under the University of Dodoma Charter and Rules, 2007.[5]

The site is at Chimwaga, about 8 km east of Dodoma city centre, and covers about 6,000 hectares.[2] Dodoma lies in the centre of the country, 455 km west of Dar es Salaam; the university notes that public transport links the campus with the city centre.[7]

The university lists six colleges, three schools and two institutes.[1] The Vice Chancellor’s welcome note, which is undated, speaks of seven colleges, and student numbers also differ between sources: 25,000 in that note and “15,000+” on the online application portal.[5][6]
