About Sana’a University
Sana’a University is a public university in Sana’a, the capital of Yemen.[1] The rector’s message on the English website gives 1970 as the founding year, and the website calls it “the first university in Yemen”.[2]
The English website lists 20 faculties in six groups: engineering and technology, medical and health sciences, pure and applied sciences, social and human sciences, administrative sciences and natural resources. It also names three education and applied-sciences branches in Khawlan, Arhab and Al-Jawf.[2] Wikipedia, in contrast, says 17 faculties in its introduction and lists 13 in its faculties section.[1]
How is Sana’a University ranked?
We could not confirm a placement for Sana’a University in the QS World University Rankings 2027 (published 18 June 2026). QS publishes the ranking at topuniversities.com, which blocks automated access, and none of the university pages we read mention a QS result.[2] “Not confirmed” does not mean the university is not ranked; it means we have no readable source.
The Wikipedia article on the university lists no rankings.[1] The Arabic website says the university holds national institutional and programme accreditation (2025) and is seeking international accreditation for medicine, engineering and computing.[3] How we compile rankings.

How do you apply to Sana’a University?
The English website lists no admission requirements or application steps. It offers an online link for admission test results, and its “Apply” menu points to a portal abbreviated YCIT-HE without further explanation.[2] The Arabic page announces postgraduate registration for the 1448 AH academic year with downloadable programme lists, and gives no undergraduate admission details.[3]
We give no deadlines because they change each year. Contact the university for the current procedure, especially if you are applying from abroad.
Which language do you need?
