Melbourne Burwood is the largest campus; Geelong Waurn Ponds is the original campus, and the university also has Geelong Waterfront and Warrnambool.[1] Deakin describes Geelong Waterfront as its headquarters and lists international sites in India and Indonesia, plus online study as a location of its own.[6]

Scholarships
Deakin says international applicants are considered automatically for a range of scholarships, with tuition reductions of up to 100% listed for the Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship (100% or 50% for the normal course duration). Course pages also list a 20% merit reduction.[4] Eligibility varies, so check the scholarship terms.
How do you apply to Deakin University?
Deakin’s application page says international students can apply through a Deakin authorised agent, which it recommends, or directly through the StudyLink application portal. Depending on country of residence or nationality, some students must use an authorised agent.[5]
- Documents: certified transcripts and award certificates, a passport and English test results. You can submit an incomplete application while you wait for a document, but no offer is made until everything has arrived.[5]
- Australian Year 12: students who completed an Australian Year 12, in Australia or overseas, apply for undergraduate courses through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC).[5]
We give no deadlines here because they change every year and differ by course and trimester. The apply page itself recommends checking the closing date for your intake.[5]
Which English level do you need?
For undergraduate study Deakin generally asks for IELTS 6.0 overall (CEFR B2), and some degrees require higher scores that are shown on the entry requirements tab of the course page.[5] Alternatives to a test include recent secondary or university study completed in English, or five or more years of living and working in an English-speaking country, assessed case by case.[5]
If you fall short, Deakin’s English for Academic Purposes stream (DUELI) leads to direct entry into most undergraduate programmes; for example, a student with IELTS 5.5 can take a 10-week course.[5] Visa English rules are separate; check them with the Department of Home Affairs.
